Underwater Bar

Thinkmodo, a buzz marketing firm known for creating effective viral video campaigns for brands, developed this viral video project. This project was for Techno Marine, a high end watch making company looking to promote their knew watches.

Thinkmodo’s idea was to use an underwater bar scene as the setting to shoot a YouTube video. Mystic Scenic was responsible for fabricating the walls, the bar and various props for the underwater shoot.  The set for the bar scene was shipped and installed into a pool in Connecticut where the commercial was shot. The bar was fabricated with a curved piece of acrylic that sat in front of nine white curved wall panels made of plastic with aluminum tube framing and oval cutouts. 3D logos were fabricated to be placed on the white panels behind the bar and an acrylic and aluminum “boom” was made to be utilized as a “elevator” into the underwater setting.

Since a dive crew was installing it in a 14’ deep pool, expediency in installation was critical for the project. As on dry land, Mystic is aces at pre-fit and logistics planning and as a result the entire set was installed in less than an hour leaving plenty of time to concentrate on getting the environment lit and shooting the video.
