The new Marshfield Boys & Girls Club Family Center began as a personal project for Jim Fitzgerald, our Vice President and also member of the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club. Jim wanted to get involved with the project by having Mystic Scenic Studios do a complete interior millwork installation including paneling, workrooms, a reception desk, kitchen, storage cubbies and graphics. Jim Fitzgerald also participated in financing the new Club by having a non-profit he created donate $50,000 for the construction of “Molly’s Kitchen” at the Club. The donation was made by the Molly Fitzgerald Memorial Fund, an organization founded by the Fitzgerald family in memory of their daughter Molly who died a week shy of her fifteenth birthday in 2006 after having an epileptic seizure in the family’s swimming pool. In honor of Molly’s love of cooking the Fitzgerald family felt that there was no better way to get involved then to donate to the building of the kitchen, which will be named “Molly’s Kitchen.” The hope is that the kitchen, which will be an integral element to the Boys & Girls Club, will also serve as a career opportunity where children can take cooking lessons.
